DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

Public Works, Jason Stordahl

This week Public Works has been working on cleaning up mowers and placing them in storage for the winter months.  We sent out an extra street sweeper; due to all the leaves on the streets.  And Storm water has been busy performing preventative maintenance at storm lifts.

STREETS

Reminder:  With weather conditions changing and beet harvest in full swing, please be extra careful to watch for muddy/slippery areas.

Parks and Recreation, Dave Aker

Every summer we provide St. Joseph’s Social Care and the Thrift Store a couple of spots in our parks to serve meals.  They serve meals from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Itts Williams and Sherlock Park in June and July this year.  It was a huge success, this year they served between the two spots 13,117 lunches.   The board and their staff of St. Joseph have given us a check for helping with everything.  Thank you for all you do.

We had a representative from Becker Rink Products come and give us a demonstration on how to run the new edger we bought.  The edger is electric and helps the air quality by not using propane.  The edger can be set so it runs automatically or by riding it, there is different levers that can be set for blades to make sure the ice is level.

The Civic Center has some new advertising on the ice and on the zamboni, thanks to the EGF Blue Line Club for selling it.  We have the advertisement on the boards and they will be up as soon as they are made.

Tryouts for hockey are ready to begin as the clinics come to an end.  Figure skating starts on Monday with the Basic Skating.  Synchro started last week with every level going but Twinklers.
