Energy Conservation Rebates

One of the City’s “best kept secrets” is the Water and Light Department’s Energy Rebate Program.   Residences and businesses alike can qualify for direct credits on their utility bills.  Residential property owners can get money back by purchasing an Energy Star-compliant appliance, an air conditioner or furnace (electric only), an HVAC tune up, an insulation and window replacement, and even energy efficient light bulbs.

Commercial properties have similar programs including weatherization and energy efficient equipment and motors.  One of the latest is the Commercial New Construction Lighting Rebate.  Businesses can install new or replace existing lighting with modern fluorescent or LED lights.  Often times, these upgrades make sense financially on their own.  The Water and Light Rebates may be the “icing on the cake” one needs to take the sustainability plunge.
